It's late fall of 1998 and we're westbound with a trainload of old wood ties, headed for the tie dump in Rhode Island. Just west of Sharon Station we realize we have a raging inferno in the gondola right behind us. We stopped the train in East Foxboro and called the train dispatcher and reported that our train was "on fire."
Figuring there was nothing better to do while we waited for the Foxboro Fire Department, we took advantage of our Kodak Moment and posed for photos in front of our burning train.
Bob "Crash Junior" Connolly was a bit worried about the hack (caboose). Actually, it's not the "caboose" that he was worried about....It's was in the caboose that he was most concerned about.
